Kevin Francis this weekend won the EGU Gold Medal at the National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa.
He had previously won the Cheshire Handicap Trophy at Sutton Hall which qualified him to play in the final of this national event sponsored by the brewers, London Pride.
The final was played over 36 holes this weekend and Kevin, playing off a handicap of 5, scored 36 Stableford points on Saturday, to lead at the halfway mark and then returned a score of 38 points on Sunday to win, with a total of 74, by 4 clear points from John Coughlan from Wentworth.
Kevin was supported by another great Helsby member, Denver Brazier, who not only carried Kevin's bag but gave him tremendous support throughout the competition.
Well done to Kevin - everyone at Helsby GC will be immensely proud of his tremendous achievement.
