Helsby Golf Club

A former captain of Helsby Golf Club, Peter Hancock has recently been announced as the national winner of the 2010 Sky Sports Coach Awards for 'Outstanding Contribution and Services to Cricket Coaching'.
Peter was delighted to accept this prestigious award at the Long Room at Lords cricket ground – the home of cricket. It was very fitting that the award was presented by the England bowler Steve Finn who was recently voted the ICC Emerging Player of the Year 2010 and is currently preparing for the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The Awards were launched at the beginning of 2007 as a way of acknowledging those who have made a significant contribution to the support and development of coaches and coaching in cricket in a variety of ways, which in turn, has left a legacy for either their home club or county.
Peter was chosen for the award because he has been fundamental in the development of the Cheshire branch of the ECB Coaches association. He has been a leading figure in Cheshire cricket for 25 years and is currently involved in Coach Education as an assessor and tutor, having previously been coach to County age group teams and the Emerging Players.
Peter said “it was a great honour to be the Cheshire and North West nomination and to then go on and win this prestigious national trophy is a tremendous honour."
