The 2009 MEGA Charity Day was another great success for the Helsby Golf Club Powered Wheelchair Appeal. The weather was superb, the golf enjoyable and the entertainment excellent.
Most importantly a powered wheelchair was presented to Lucy Brailey. Lucy, who is 11 years old and lives in Warrington, is pictured with her Mum Colette, Dad Steven and Linda Lyndsey of CHIPS, another charity which provided some of the funds for Lucy's chair. Chips is the charity of the casino and gaming industry and was set up in order to provide powered wheelchairs for needy youngsters.
Over £1,700 was generated for the MEGA fund - which will go towards the provision of improved access facilities to the clubhouse - and this was added to by an extremely generous donation of £2,000 from the Cunniffe family business.
Also pictured are the winners of the golfing competiton and the entertainers Joe Wall, guitarist Garry Murphy and ex-World boxing champion John H Stracey.
